My days of living off a staple diet of Monster Munch are long gone. These days I enjoy anything to do with cooking; experimenting with new recipes, or boring anyone within earshot about the virtues of a good frying pan. I enjoy having friends around for dinner parties and always get roped into catering for family occasions as I'm a glutton for compliments!I would love to run my own catering company and this prize would be invaluable to me. To gain experience with Cully & Scully would be amazing!

My dish is one I like to cook for special occasions. I use fresh duck breast and score the skin with a sharp knife. Then I rub grinded salt and five spice into the skin. The fat is rendered out in a pan over a low heat. It is then discarded and I crank up the heat and get a nice crispy brown skin.I pour over some honey and soy sauce and let it reduce. The duck is roasted in the oven. I serve it with steamed basmati rice, crunchy stir fry veg and the honey and soy sauce reduction. Yummy!

The Delectable Duck

Duck. Honey. Reduction. Mmmmm. (Said in a voice like Homer Simpson thinking about gummy bears.) This is a classy meal, Ms. Trina.

Thank you!

Thank you mysterious critic! Maybe Cully & Sully could get Homer Simpson in as a guest judge and it would increase my chances of winning!

Just wondering if people can only vote through Facebook? A lot of people I know (for example my parents!!) would like to vote and don't have Facebook accounts. Thanks. Trina

Smile I think my reputation as a good cook would be in tatters if I served Monster Munch as a dessert! Unless I did some wizardry with them like Heston Blumenthal does, although I prefer real desserts as opposed to bacon and egg ice-cream!

Hiya Trina,

Firstly, congratulations on an amazing entry! well done! Yes you have to be on facebook to vote. We developed our own voting
system where you would register on the site to vote but we felt it
would not be robust enough. It is as quick to sign up for facebook as it would be to register on the site and We had to find a way for people to vote and we wanted the public to
decide. Facebook was the only mechanism that would prevent
cheating-one vote per person. It prevents algorithms being run and
other forms of cheating that have plagued other online competitions.

Also, we have a wildcard so the lads (Cully & Sully) are reading every single story as they come in and they will select one person to go through to the final. They wanted this to be a national competition and wanted to make it as fair as possible.
It's our first year doing it and it is a steep learning curve-we are open to suggestions on how it should be run if it were to be run again. One suggestion was to do it by text but there would cost involved for the voter then.

We also have some surprises in the cupboard so stay tuned. You have loads and loads of time to get those votes in. The very best of luck. You have my vote.
