I should win Cheffactor because I am passionate about food, and cooking, and I would love to improve my skills at the Ballymaloe Cookery School. My entry has lots going for it - it is a dish that has been handed down through our family for three generations, and is good, hearty, nutritious, winter food, made with locally sourced ingredients. And a little bit of TLC as well! With the help of the inspiring teachers at Ballymaloe, I could add 'skill' to my already instinctive style of cooking!
You have 500 characters to tell us about your dish:
My dish is based on a stew that my Nana (maternal grandmother) made for years, and which I ate every Monday night after ballet when I was a child. I have made the stew into a soup, as I think soup is so comforting in winter time. The ingredients are beef (or lamb), onion, carrot, celery, leek, potato, garlic, worcestershire sauce and beef stock. After browning the meat and tossing the veg, I slow cook it in the oven over a number of hours and then gently liquidize and serve piping hot.
