I have always loved cooking but have been hesitant to make it a career as I was worried that if it became 'work' I'd lose the passion. I've spent the last 5 years working in a dependable job I've enjoyed but had no excitement going in each day. I've come to realize that life is too short to be spent doing anything but following your passion. Please consider my entry. I yearn to learn about food from the soil to the plate and know that Ballymaloe Cookery School is the place for that.

A close friend of my mother's turned 50 last week. She called me back in August to ask me to make her a cake. Her only stipulation was that it had toffee, so I made a baked lemon cheesecake and a toffee topping for it. She and her friends loved it, but I think they were just being kind. I definitely need to learn how to make a better cheesecake :)
