Last night like all other nights when doing up my "Order of Work" for the next day I thought "I don't have that much to do, I can definately fit in something else". You'd think I would have learned by now that everything takes way longer than you think and when you have a few things to cook & have an extra duty (lemonade) there really isn't enough time to fit something in.
Anyway, arrived early to start my "something extra", scones with lemon butter, its better to get breads etc. out of the way in the morning. These went swimmingly & tasted well yummy!
Next I moved on to the stuff I was actually assigned to do. Hummous first (my Israeli relatives will be so proud!), chickpeas need to be really soft so left them bubbling away and moved on to Haricot Beans with Tomato & Rosemary. These beans also take some time, boiled them up with carrot, onion & bouquet garni. Then I juiced enough lemons to make my lemonade & a bit for the hummous. Back to the chickpeas, blended with lemon juice, garlic, cumin & salt.
Meanwhile my partner had some time to spare so got started on my glazed carrots as time was catching up with me. I sweated my onions & garlic and added tomatoes and rosemary then my strained beans & left to stew for a while. I started my syrup for the lemonade while Clare (my trusty partner) got my pitta crisps prepared.
So there were a few moments of madness but we got through them by 12 o'clock and I presented my best food yet, my new teacher was very happy indeed and I got high enough marks for everything I made.
So the best pic today is the hummous (that doesnt say much for my photography skills but I'm after getting advice and am working on it!!)
